About Me!

About Me!

Me in Suisun City, looking for inspiration on the docks.

I am Arcadia Marsh. I live and work out of Humboldt County near Eureka, California. The forest areas and all the nature-based experiences you can have in this area have inspired me time and time again, usually when I see mushrooms, sunsets, or the fog against the trees.

I began drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil. My dad used to draw a lot of different objects, realistic and not, also providing tattoos to people, and my mom would draw fairies. My grandmother and my aunt used to draw using gel pens with me to make signs for my doors or just to show me how to color in the lines. All of this encouraged me to draw or color a lot myself, and I found it to be very therapeutic. In elementary and middle school, I would take time to draw in class when I was done with my regular school work early. I even entered a poster contest in elementary school when they were doing posters for recycling and had my poster hung up in the school cafeteria. I took as many art classes as I could through middle and high school, where I started picking up painting and charcoal works, beyond just coloring and drawing simple objects. I started picking up some self-taught graphic design after I graduated high school. My first semester of college, I took an art history class while studying for early childhood education, then ultimately decided later when returning to college I wanted to pursue studio art. At that point, I wasn’t sure where to take my knowledge of art. I have now decided that I want to work on opening my own studio and still teaching children, but to create art as an outlet. I have completed one semester at College of the Redwoods for Studio Art and am working on a Graphic Design and Visual Communications certificate this semester.

I make different mediums of art to show that art is not just one solid form, yet takes many forms within the language. I’m driven to show the world the magic that typically lies just beyond the adult imagination, and create light and airy pieces no matter the medium. I want to show the world that there is light still surrounding everything, you just must look at it a little differently.
